Willemen Infra is a leading, Belgian road construction company with a regional presence in both Flanders and Wallonia. An important asset is that we have all aspects of the construction process under our own management and thus fully control the execution. Moreover, our team of 1,000 well-trained and experienced employees are willing to work at night and over the weekend to make sure they get everything done in time. In addition, thanks to our own COPRO-certified production and recycling sites, we are one of the leading producers for asphalt and road concrete.
Antwerp EuroTerminal - Antwerp
Expansion of Antwerp EuroTerminal, a subsidiary of the Italian Grimaldi Group, by some 30 hectares. We were thus responsible for both the construction of the sewers and tow pipes, and the construction of a new superstructure with an asphalt pavement laid on a foundation of natural stone chippings. The implementation period was divided into two phases. The poor subsoil required extra attention with regard to compaction and finishing of the subsoil and foundation.
We were also responsible for the construction of a crane beam (640 metres) on the front quay of Quay 1333. This was concreted on prefabricated piles on site using traditional formwork. The construction of the crane rails was dimensioned based on the existing quay wall and forebay pavement. This required prior investigation and study work of the existing condition in consultation with the client, the track builder and the engineering firm. Implementation was carried out in 3 equal phases of 4 months each between May 2015 and April 2016. During the execution of the works, the front quay remained in use. Loading and unloading of ships therefore had to be taken into account at all times.
The expansion for Antwerp Euroterminal is a confirmation of continued confidence in our company. Our services were also used for the expansion of the entire terminal at Verrebroek dock.
